Mawlynnong in Meghalaya is crowned as ‘The Cleanest Village in Asia’ is less known in the country. The scenic beauty of the village makes it God's own Garden. The lush greenery & peaceful surrounding is worth visiting. The roads are well maintained, streets are clean, houses are dust free. There are separate pits for organic and inorganic wastes. Functional toilets, ban of plastic bags, ban of smoking, bamboo dusbins are few things that make the village so unique. The Living Root Bridge is the UNESCO World Heritage Site and one cannot miss it if someone visits this place.
It is a village located in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. The village is known for the famous temple of Shani who is a Hindu God. None of the houses in the village have doors. It is believed that God Shani blessed the villagers and promised to protect them from all dangers. The villagers then installed a huge slab on a roofless platform and discarded all doors and locks. They believe Lord Shani is constantly keeping an eye on them. There are almost no incidents of theft or robbery.
